Good News: Jesus is the Messiah Part 1Freedom in Christ frees us from religious practices unrelated to salvation
The Hebrew law was both Oral and Written. The Written law was handed down as the Scriptures we know as the Old Testament. The Oral law was a set of teachings God gave to Moses that explained much of the written law, but these teachings were never written down.
Beginning in the 2nd century BC., the Jews began to formally demonstrate that the Oral Torah was an integral part of the Written Torah. This explanation was formally written down around 220 AD as the Talmud.
The Messiah is one important topic in the Talmud.
